mappy

Terms of use

Last updated:

mappy is made and supplied by Dmitrii Russu, an independent developer based in Switzerland. These terms explain the product-specific rules in plain language. They do not take away consumer rights that the law says cannot be waived.

How you buy mappy

mappy is available through Apple's Mac App Store. Apple handles payment, receipts, tax, and refund requests for App Store purchases, including the in-app full unlock. I remain mappy's developer, app provider, and licensor and am responsible for the app and its support, subject to the applicable App Store terms and law.

The license

I use Apple's standard license and have not supplied a custom end-user license through App Store Connect. A Mac App Store download is therefore licensed under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. That agreement governs use of the app. This page does not replace it; it provides mappy-specific product, privacy, contact, support, and consumer information and terms for this website and support service. If I adopt a custom license in the future, I will provide it through App Store Connect and update this page before it applies.

Under the Standard EULA, downloading mappy gives you a limited, non-transferable license to use it on Apple-branded products you own or control as the App Store usage rules permit, including applicable Family Sharing use. The Standard EULA sets the remaining license restrictions and termination rules. Mandatory law remains unaffected.

Price and payment

mappy is free to download from the Mac App Store. Full access is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. The price shown on this website is US$20. The relevant Mac App Store storefront displays the final price, currency, and taxes before you buy; that displayed amount controls the transaction. Apple processes payment-card details and Apple Account credentials for Mac App Store purchases. I do not receive those details or credentials.

Your maps and files

Your maps are yours. mappy stores them as plain files in the location you choose, and these terms give me no ownership rights over their contents. You are responsible for having the right to use material you put in a map and for using the app lawfully.

Because the files remain under your control, you also control deletion and backups. I recommend keeping the library in a folder covered by a backup or sync service you trust. mappy includes recovery features, but they are not a substitute for a separate backup.

Compatibility, support, and updates

The Mac App Store listing identifies the supported macOS versions and app features available at purchase. I provide support through the mappy support page. I may improve, fix, or change mappy over time and may eventually stop distributing future versions, but this does not remove rights you already have or any compatibility, security-update, conformity, or remedy obligations that applicable law requires.

Refunds, cancellation, and product problems

Apple administers billing, cancellation, and refund requests for Mac App Store purchases. You can submit a request through Apple's Report a Problem service. Apple decides eligibility and timing under its policies and the law applicable to your purchase. Contact mappy support as well if the app is defective or does not work as described so I can help resolve the product issue.

Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory cancellation, conformity, repair, replacement, price-reduction, refund, termination, security-update, or other consumer right available under applicable law.

Privacy

The mappy app does not send your maps or app usage to me. The separate processing needed for the website, support, and Apple's storefront is explained in the privacy policy.

Warranty and liability

mappy is provided with the warranties, quality standards, and remedies that mandatory law requires. Beyond those requirements, and to the fullest extent the law permits, I cannot promise that every version will be error-free or suitable for every purpose, workflow, device, or third-party service.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, death or personal injury where liability cannot be excluded, fraud, or any other liability or right that applicable law does not permit me to exclude or limit. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not responsible for indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable or for loss caused by circumstances outside my reasonable control. Your mandatory remedies remain unaffected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Swiss law, except that this choice does not deprive a consumer of mandatory protections under the law that would otherwise apply in their country of habitual residence. Courts have jurisdiction as determined by mandatory applicable law; no consumer is required to give up a legally protected forum.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms for future purchases or where a valid legal, security, or product reason requires a change. The updated version and date will be published here. A change will not retroactively reduce rights attached to an earlier purchase or any mandatory right. If a material change affects existing use, I will provide appropriate notice where the law requires it.
